Heavy metal can mean anything from the rock n' roll stylings of Led Zeppelin to the Black Metal mayhem that is Darkthrone. On this page you'll find a few facts about my personal favourite metal band of all time, AC/DC.

The band was formed in 1973 by brothers Malcom and Angus young the band struggled and worked hard for many years and in 1976 they had their first major breakthrough. In 1975 the band had recorded 'High Voltage' which only received an Australian release at the time, the album took only ten days to record. The band then went on to have great commercial and critical success with albums like the seminal Highway to Hell and Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap. During these early years Angus still hadn't found his trademark school-uniform costume and was trialling other costumes such as Zorro, Spiderman and a Superman costume that earned him the nickname Super-Ang.

During this period the band also released the live album 'If You Want Blood You've Got It' which at the time didn't receive much recognition, but is now considered to be one of the best live heavy metal albums ever. During these formative years the band also went through a selection of drummers and bassists before settling on the pivotal rhythm section of Cliff Williams and Phil Rudd.

In 1980 singer Bon Scott sadly died and after a period of considering breaking up the band AC/DC decided to hire Brian Johnson. Following this they recorded the biggest selling rock album of all time Back In Black. The band are still enjoying success today as their latest album Black Ice which broke records by going to number 1 in 29 countries at once.
